红河学院是一所在改革中诞生、开放中成长、创新中发展的“省州共建共管，以省为主”的全日制公办本科院校，前身是创建于1978年的蒙自师范专科学校。2003年4月，经教育部批准，由蒙自师范高等专科学校和云南广播电视大学红河分校合并组建成红河学院，学校位于红河哈尼族彝族自治州州府蒙自市，是红河州唯一的本科高等院校。学校秉持“博远有鸣，开阔弘毅”的校训和“道不虚谈，学贵实效”的校风，坚持“根植红河，服务云南，辐射南亚东南亚，具有区域国际影响力的一流应用型大学”的办学定位。

Honghe University is a full-time public undergraduate institution established under the "provincial and prefectural co-construction and management, with the province as the main body" principle. It was born in reform, grew in opening up, and developed in innovation. Its predecessor was Mengzi Normal College founded in 1978. In April 2003, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was formed by merging Mengzi Normal College and Honghe Branch of Yunnan Radio and Television University. Located in Mengzi City, the capital of Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, it is the only undergraduate institution of higher learning in Honghe Prefecture. Adhering to the school motto of "Broad and Resonant, Open and Perseverant" and the school spirit of "Truth in Practice, Value in Learning", the university adheres to the orientation of building a first-class application-oriented university rooted in Honghe, serving Yunnan, radiating South and Southeast Asia, and having regional and international influence.

学校是云南省首批整体转型试点高校、云南省应用型人才培养示范学校，2016年获批国家“十三五”职业教育产教融合工程应用型本科高校转型试点项目。学校主动适应区域经济社会发展需求，构建了覆盖文、史、法、理、工、农、经济、管理、教育、艺术等10大学科门类的专业体系，现有46个全日制本科招生专业，其中国家级一流专业建设点1个、国家级特色专业1个、省级一流本科专业建设点15个。建校以来，为云南培养了4.6万名下得去、留得住、用得成的高素质应用型人才，荣获国家级教学成果二等奖1项，省级教学成果一等奖3项、二等奖7项。

The university is one of the first batch of overall transformation pilot universities in Yunnan Province and a demonstration school for applied talent training in Yunnan. In 2016, it was approved as a national "13th Five-Year Plan" vocational education industry-education integration project for the transformation of application-oriented undergraduate universities. Actively adapting to the needs of regional economic and social development, the university has built a professional system covering 10 disciplines including literature, history, law, science, engineering, agriculture, economics, management, education, and art. It currently has 46 full-time undergraduate enrollment majors, including 1 national first-class professional construction site, 1 national characteristic major, and 15 provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction sites. Since its establishment, it has cultivated 46,000 high-quality applied talents for Yunnan who can "go down, stay, and be useful". It has won 1 second prize of national teaching achievements, 3 first prizes and 7 second prizes of provincial teaching achievements.
