University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) is a key municipal university in Shanghai with engineering as its main focus, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines including engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, and art. It enjoys the reputation of "Whampoa Military Academy of Manufacturing Industry". The university originated from Shanghai University founded in 1906 and German Medical School founded in 1907. After more than a century of development, it has accumulated profound cultural heritage and distinct school-running characteristics.

学校现有杨浦、复兴路两个校区，占地面积近千亩。设有18个学院（部），64个本科专业，拥有一级学科博士学位授权点8个，一级学科硕士学位授权点27个，专业学位类别19个，博士后科研流动站8个。在第四轮学科评估中，光学工程、动力工程及工程热物理、管理科学与工程等学科获得B+评级，彰显了学科建设的雄厚实力。

The university currently has two campuses, Yangpu and Fuxing Road, covering an area of nearly 1,000 mu. It has 18 colleges (departments), 64 undergraduate majors, 8 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 27 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, 19 professional degree categories, and 8 post-doctoral research stations. In the fourth round of discipline evaluation, disciplines such as Optical Engineering, Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics, and Management Science and Engineering received B+ ratings, demonstrating the strong strength of discipline construction.
