武汉东湖学院前身是武汉大学东湖分校，是全国最早设立的四所独立学院之一。2011年经教育部审核批准转设并更名为武汉东湖学院，由田野集团股份有限公司举办。学校荣获全国文明单位、全国绿化先进集体、全国党建工作示范高校等多项荣誉，综合竞争力稳居湖北省民办高校第一。

Wuhan Donghu University, formerly known as Wuhan University Donghu College, is one of the earliest four independent colleges established in China. Approved by the Ministry of Education in 2011, it was renamed Wuhan Donghu University and is sponsored by Tianye Group Co., Ltd. The university has been awarded many honors such as National Civilized Unit, National Advanced Collective in Afforestation, and National Demonstration University for Party Building Work, with its comprehensive competitiveness ranking first among private universities in Hubei Province.

学校现有武汉校区和嘉鱼教学改革基地，总占地面积5083.44亩，设有14个教学院（部）、53个本科专业，涵盖九大学科门类，普通本专科在校生2.14万余人。校园环境优美，教学设施完善，以培养高素质应用型人才为目标，致力于建设特色鲜明的高水平应用型大学。

The university has two campuses: Wuhan Campus and Jiayu Teaching Reform Base, covering a total area of 5083.44 mu. It has 14 teaching colleges (departments) and 53 undergraduate majors, covering nine disciplines, with more than 21,400 full-time undergraduate and junior college students.
