皖南医学院地处素有“长江巨埠、皖之中坚”之称的历史名城——芜湖市，濒临浩瀚长江，汇集江南神秀。学校建于1958年，时为芜湖医学专科学校；1971年并入安徽医学院，为安徽医学院皖南分院；1974年经国务院批准独立建校，命名为皖南医学院；1981年获得国务院学位委员会学士学位和硕士学位授予权；2019年成为安徽省博士学位授权立项建设单位，2020年通过临床医学专业认证，有效期六年。

Wannan Medical College is located in Wuhu, a famous historical city known as "a major port on the Yangtze River and a stronghold in Anhui". It is adjacent to the vast Yangtze River and gathers the beauty of southern Anhui. Founded in 1958 as Wuhu Medical College, it was merged into Anhui Medical College in 1971 as its Southern Anhui Branch. In 1974, it was approved by the State Council to become an independent institution named Wannan Medical College. In 1981, it obtained the right to confer bachelor's and master's degrees from the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. In 2019, it became a doctoral degree authorization project construction unit in Anhui Province, and in 2020, it passed the clinical medicine professional certification with a validity period of six years.

学校现有银湖校区、滨江校区、赭麓校区三个校区，占地700余亩，各类建筑40余万平方米。设有16个二级学院，30个本科专业，涵盖医、理、工、管、经、法6个学科门类；拥有临床医学、基础医学、生物学等6个硕士一级学科授权点，临床医学、口腔医学等6个硕士专业学位类别。临床医学学科进入ESI全球排名前1%，入选安徽省高峰学科。现有各类在校生2.4万余人，教职医护员工5842人（含直属附院），高级职称1004人。

The college has three campuses: Yinhu, Binjiang and Zhelu, covering an area of more than 700 mu with various buildings of over 400,000 square meters. It has 16 secondary colleges and 30 undergraduate majors, covering 6 disciplines including medicine, science, engineering, management, economics and law. It has 6 first-level master's degree authorization points such as clinical medicine, basic medicine and biology, and 6 professional master's degree categories such as clinical medicine and stomatology. The clinical medicine discipline has entered the top 1% of ESI global ranking and was selected as a peak discipline in Anhui Province. Currently, there are more than 24,000 students of various types, 5,842 faculty and medical staff (including directly affiliated hospitals), and 1,004 with senior professional titles.
