西安体育学院创办于1954年，原名西北体育学院，1956年更名为西安体育学院，是新中国最早建立的六所体育高等院校之一。学校现有含光、鄠邑、沣峪三个校区，占地面积1300余亩，在校本科生8565人，硕士研究生1344人。设有9个学院及马克思主义学院、研究生部、继续教育学院、附属竞技体育学校，另与国家体育总局共建中国竞走学校、中国掷球学院。

Xi'an Physical Education University was founded in 1954, originally named Northwest Institute of Physical Education, and renamed Xi'an Physical Education University in 1956. It is one of the first six physical education institutions of higher learning established in New China. The university has three campuses: Hanguang, Huyi, and Fengyu, covering an area of over 1300 mu, with 8565 undergraduate students and 1344 postgraduate students. It has 9 colleges, as well as the School of Marxism, Graduate Department, Continuing Education College, and Affiliated Competitive Sports School. Additionally, it has jointly established the China Race Walking School and China Bocce Academy with the General Administration of Sport of China.

学校拥有2个一级学科和10个二级学科硕士学位授予点，体育学为陕西省一流建设学科，与上海体育学院合作培养博士研究生。开设21个本科专业，涵盖文、理、经、管、教、医、艺7个学科门类，其中国家级一流专业建设点3个，省级一流专业建设点7个，1门国家级线上线下混合式一流本科课程，16门省级一流本科课程。

The university has 2 first-level disciplines and 10 second-level discipline master's degree authorization points, with sports science as a first-class construction discipline in Shaanxi Province, and jointly cultivates doctoral students with Shanghai University of Sport. It offers 21 undergraduate majors covering 7 disciplines including liberal arts, science, economics, management, education, medicine, and art. Among them, there are 3 national-level first-class professional construction sites, 7 provincial-level first-class professional construction sites, 1 national-level online-offline mixed first-class undergraduate course, and 16 provincial-level first-class undergraduate courses.

现有教职工797人，其中国家百千万人才工程入选1人，享受国务院特殊津贴专家11人，全国优秀教师1人。同29个国家和地区63所大学、研究机构建立校际合作关系，建校以来为国家培养6万余名体育专业人才，秉承“严谨创新，团结拼搏”校训，致力于建设国内一流、国际有影响的高水平教学研究型体育大学。

There are 797 faculty members, including 1 person selected into the National Hundred, Thousand, Ten Thousand Talents Project, 11 experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, and 1 national excellent teacher. It has established inter-university cooperative relations with 63 universities and research institutions in 29 countries and regions. Since its establishment, it has cultivated more than 60,000 sports professionals for the country. Adhering to the school motto of "rigorous innovation, unity and hard work", it is committed to building a first-class domestic and internationally influential high-level teaching and research-oriented sports university.
