新疆农业大学坐落在新疆维吾尔自治区首府乌鲁木齐雅玛里克山脚下、巩宁古城遗址上，是自治区重点建设的一所以农业科学为优势和特色的大学。其前身为八一农学院，由王震将军于1952年在中国人民解放军第二步兵学校基础上创建，是新中国成立后中国共产党在新疆创办的第一所新型正规大学。1958年划归新疆维吾尔自治区人民政府，更名为新疆八一农学院；1995年经原国家教委批准，更名为新疆农业大学。学校现有老满城、亚心、陆港、天格尔四个校区，是全国文明校园、全国乡村振兴人才培养优质校、全国节约型机构示范单位，首批自治区绿色大学、自治区党建示范高校。

Xinjiang Agricultural University is located at the foot of Yamalik Mountain in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and on the site of the ancient city of Gongning. It is a key university in the autonomous region with agricultural science as its advantage and characteristic. Its predecessor was Bayi Agricultural College, founded by General Wang Zhen in 1952 on the basis of the Second Infantry School of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. It was the first new type of regular university founded by the Communist Party of China in Xinjiang after the founding of the People's Republic of China. In 1958, it was transferred to the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and renamed Xinjiang Bayi Agricultural College; in 1995, with the approval of the former State Education Commission, it was renamed Xinjiang Agricultural University. The university currently has four campuses: Laomancheng, Yaxin, Lugang and Tiangel. It is a national civilized campus, a national high-quality school for training rural revitalization talents, a national model unit for economical institutions, the first batch of autonomous region green universities, and an autonomous region party building demonstration university.

学校秉承“明德笃志、励学竞业”的校训，形成了覆盖农、理、工、经、管、文、法等7个学科门类的学科体系。现有7个博士后流动站，8个一级学科博士学位授权点，19个一级学科硕士学位授权点，14个硕士专业学位授权点，64个本科专业。拥有1个国家级重点学科（草业科学）、1个国家重点（培育）学科（水利水电工程），植物与动物科学、农业科学2个学科进入ESI全球排名前1%。建校70余年来，学校坚持“屯垦戍边办大学、稳疆兴疆育人才”的办学宗旨，为推动新疆农业现代化和高等农业教育发展作出了重要贡献。

Adhering to the school motto of "Virtue, Aspiration, Learning and Dedication", the university has formed a disciplinary system covering 7 disciplines including agriculture, science, engineering, economics, management, liberal arts and law. It currently has 7 post-doctoral research stations, 8 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 19 first-level discipline master degree authorization points, 14 professional master degree authorization points, and 64 undergraduate majors. It has 1 national key discipline (Pratacultural Science), 1 national key (cultivation) discipline (Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering), and 2 disciplines (Plant and Animal Science, Agricultural Science) have entered the top 1% of ESI global rankings. Over the past 70 years since its establishment, the university has adhered to the school-running purpose of "running a university for garrisoning the frontier and cultivating talents for stabilizing and developing Xinjiang", and has made important contributions to promoting agricultural modernization and the development of higher agricultural education in Xinjiang.
