伊犁师范大学位于塞外江南——伊犁，是教育部、江苏省与新疆维吾尔自治区人民政府共建高校。长期以来，学校全面贯彻党的教育方针，坚持用胡杨精神育人、为兴疆固边服务，扎根边疆75载为社会培养输送了近7万多名各类人才，据统计，伊犁、塔城、阿勒泰地区60%中小学老师均毕业于我校。为区域经济发展、社会稳定、民族团结、边防巩固提供了智力支撑和人才保障，特别是为边疆基础教育事业做出积极贡献，被誉为“天山脚下人才摇篮，伊犁河畔教育名校”。

Yili Normal University is located in Yili, the "Jiangnan Beyond the Great Wall". It is a university jointly built by the Ministry of Education, Jiangsu Province, and the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. For a long time, the university has fully implemented the Party's educational policy, adhered to cultivating talents with the spirit of populus euphratica and serving the prosperity and stability of Xinjiang. Rooted in the border area for 75 years, it has cultivated and transported nearly 70,000 talents of various types for the society. According to statistics, 60% of primary and secondary school teachers in Yili, Tacheng, and Altay regions are graduates of our university. It has provided intellectual support and talent guarantee for regional economic development, social stability, ethnic unity, and border defense consolidation, especially making positive contributions to the basic education cause in border areas, and is known as "the cradle of talents at the foot of the Tianshan Mountains and a famous educational institution by the Yili River".

学校前身是1948年成立的新疆省立伊犁专科学校，1950年，除师范专业外，学校其他专业全部并入新疆学院（新疆大学前身），1953年更名为伊犁师范学校，1980年经国务院批准升格为普通本科院校，定名为伊犁师范学院。2006年获批硕士学位授予单位，2018年12月，经教育部批准更名为伊犁师范大学。

The predecessor of the university was Xinjiang Provincial Yili Junior College founded in 1948. In 1950, except for normal majors, all other majors were merged into Xinjiang College (the predecessor of Xinjiang University). In 1953, it was renamed Yili Normal School. In 1980, it was approved by the State Council to be upgraded to a regular undergraduate college and named Yili Normal College. In 2006, it was approved as a master's degree-granting unit. In December 2018, it was renamed Yili Normal University with the approval of the Ministry of Education.

学校确立了以师范教育为主，培养应用型、技术技能型复合人才的办学总体定位，明确了建设扎根边疆、服务边疆的新时代高水平师范大学的发展目标定位。现有18个教学单位，57个本科专业，涉及10个学科门类。拥有8个一级学科硕士学位授权点，6个硕士专业学位授权点，覆盖49个二级学科（专业领域）。

The university has established an overall school-running orientation of focusing on normal education and cultivating applied and technical-skilled compound talents, and has clearly defined the development goal of building a high-level normal university in the new era rooted in and serving the border areas. It currently has 18 teaching units and 57 undergraduate majors, covering 10 disciplines. It has 8 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points and 6 professional master's degree authorization points, covering 49 secondary disciplines (professional fields).

现有教职工1378人，其中专任教师1050人，教职工具有博士研究生学历183人，硕士研究生学历800人。享受国务院政府特殊津贴专家3人，自治区天山英才等各类高层次人才多人。近三年来，获批国家级项目29项，各级各类项目经费总额17989.67万元，现有各级各类科研平台38个，其中省部级以上科研平台（含培育）10个。

There are 1,378 faculty members, including 1,050 full-time teachers, 183 with doctoral degrees and 800 with master's degrees. There are 3 experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council and many high-level talents such as "Tianshan Talents" in the autonomous region. In the past three years, it has obtained 29 national-level projects with a total funding of 179.8967 million yuan. There are 38 scientific research platforms at all levels, including 10 at the provincial and ministerial level (including cultivation).
