云南林业职业技术学院是经云南省人民政府批准、教育部备案、国家公办，具有高等学历教育资格的全日制公办专科层次职业高等学校。自1955年原林业部昆明林校建立至今，历经70年发展，学院现占地面积1971亩，拥有金殿、石林、官渡、杨林四个校区，本部位于昆明市金殿国家级风景名胜区。作为西南地区唯一独立设置的林业类高职院校，学院是省级“双高”院校、省级示范性高等职业院校、省级优质高职院校，被誉为“云南林业人才的绿色摇篮”。

Yunnan Forestry Vocational and Technical College is a public full-time vocational college with higher education qualifications, approved by the Yunnan Provincial People's Government, registered with the Ministry of Education. Founded in 1955 as the Kunming Forestry School under the former Ministry of Forestry, it has developed over 70 years and now covers an area of 1,971 mu with four campuses (Jindian, Shilin, Guandu, and Yanglin), with its headquarters located in the national scenic area of Kunming's Jindian. As the only independently established forestry vocational college in Southwest China, it is a provincial "Double-High" college, a provincial demonstration vocational college, and a provincial high-quality vocational college, known as the "Green Cradle of Yunnan Forestry Talents".

学院秉持“成材成美、树木树人”的校训，以“立足林草显特色”为办学理念，下设9个二级学院及3个教学单位，开设51个专业，其中国家级重点专业1个、教育部高水平骨干专业7个。现有教职工715人，专任教师525人，博士32人，硕士345人，双师素质教师229人；全日制大中专学生2.3万余人，毕业生去向落实率连续保持95%以上，云南省16个州（市）、129个县（市、区）林草局80%的技术骨干毕业于该院。

Adhering to the motto of "Cultivating Talents with Integrity and Excellence, Nurturing People Like Trees" and the educational philosophy of "Highlighting Forestry and Grassland Features", the college has 9 secondary colleges and 3 teaching units, offering 51 majors, including 1 national key major and 7 high-level backbone majors recognized by the Ministry of Education. It has 715 faculty members, including 525 full-time teachers, 32 doctors, 345 masters, and 229 "double-qualified" teachers. With over 23,000 full-time students, the employment rate of graduates has remained above 95% for consecutive years, and 80% of technical backbones in forestry and grassland bureaus across 16 prefectures (cities) and 129 counties (districts) of Yunnan Province are alumni of the college.

学院积极推进产教融合与国际交流，牵头成立省级示范性生态文明建设职教集团，与100余家企业建立合作关系，建成省级示范性实训基地；作为澜沧江-湄公河职业教育联盟副理事长单位，与欧盟、东南亚多国开展教育合作，荣膺“全国高等职业院校国际影响力50强”。2024年ABC中国高职院校排名中，学校位列云南省第4、全国农林类高职院校第13位。

The college actively promotes industry-education integration and international exchanges, leading the establishment of a provincial demonstration vocational education group for ecological civilization construction and cooperating with over 100 enterprises to build provincial demonstration training bases. As the vice-chairman unit of the Lancang-Mekong Vocational Education Alliance, it has carried out educational cooperation with the EU and multiple Southeast Asian countries, and was honored as one of the "Top 50 Higher Vocational Colleges with International Influence in China". In the 2024 ABC China Higher Vocational College Rankings, the college ranked 4th in Yunnan Province and 13th among national agricultural and forestry vocational colleges.
