云南体育运动职业技术学院地处春城昆明滇池之滨国家旅游度假区，占地200亩，校舍建筑面积9万多平方米。学校前身为创建于1964年的云南省青少年体育学校，1978年组建为云南省体育运动学校，2004年经云南省人民政府批准组建为云南体育运动职业技术学院。

Yunnan Vocational and Technical College of Physical Education is located in the National Tourist Resort on the shore of Dianchi Lake in Kunming, the Spring City, covering an area of 200 mu with a building area of over 90,000 square meters. The college originated from Yunnan Provincial Youth Sports School founded in 1964, was reorganized into Yunnan Provincial Sports School in 1978, and was approved by Yunnan Provincial People's Government to establish Yunnan Vocational and Technical College of Physical Education in 2004.

学校现有全日制在校生6700余人，教职工245人，具有高级职称教师53人，硕士研究生以上教职工143人，拥有云南省兴滇人才、省政府特殊津贴专家等一大批优秀教师。设有6个二级学院，开设21个专业，涵盖运动训练、体育教育、康复治疗技术等领域，其中国家级骨干专业1个，云南省高水平骨干专业4个。

The college currently has over 6,700 full-time students and 245 faculty members, including 53 teachers with senior professional titles and 143 faculty members with master's degree or above. It boasts a large number of outstanding teachers such as Yunnan Xingdian Talents and experts enjoying special government allowances. The college has 6 secondary colleges offering 21 majors covering sports training, physical education, rehabilitation therapy technology, etc., including 1 national-level key major and 4 Yunnan provincial high-level key majors.

学校教学、科研、竞训实力雄厚，连续三年获全国技能大赛团体第一名，2023年软科中国体育类高职院校排名全国第二，连续16年被评为国家高水平体育后备人才基地。累计培养3名奥运冠军、7名世界冠军，被誉为云南竞技体育的"人才库"和"优秀选手的摇篮"。

The college has strong strength in teaching, scientific research and competition training, having won the first place in the national skills competition for three consecutive years. In 2023, it ranked second in the Soft Science China Sports Vocational Colleges Ranking and has been rated as the National High-Level Sports Reserve Talent Base for 16 consecutive years. It has cultivated 3 Olympic champions and 7 world champions, known as the "talent pool" and "cradle of outstanding athletes" for Yunnan competitive sports.
