Yonsei University is one of the top private research universities in South Korea, and together with Seoul National University and Korea University, it forms the prestigious "SKY" university alliance in Korea. The university originated from Yonhi College founded by American missionaries in 1885 and Severance Medical College established in 1915, officially merging into Yonsei University in 1957.
