玉溪师范学院是省属全日制普通本科院校，1978年经云南省批准成立玉溪师范专科班，1983年改建为玉溪师范专科学校，1992年更名为玉溪师范高等专科学校，2000年经教育部批准升格为玉溪师范学院。学校坐落于滇中名城玉溪市，占地面积1014.45亩，现有16个教学科研单位，全日制在校学生14078人，教职工1023人。秉承“至真至善 致美致用”校训，立足滇中、服务云南、辐射东南亚，累计培养近7.2万名地方建设人才，荣获“全国文明单位”“全国学校艺术教育先进单位”等称号。

Yuxi Normal University is a provincial full-time ordinary undergraduate institution. Approved by Yunnan Province, it was established as Yuxi Normal College Class in 1978, reorganized into Yuxi Normal College in 1983, renamed Yuxi Normal Junior College in 1992, and upgraded to Yuxi Normal University with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 2000. Located in Yuxi City, a famous city in central Yunnan, the university covers an area of 1014.45 mu, has 16 teaching and research units, with 14,078 full-time students and 1,023 faculty members. Adhering to the school motto of "Pursuing Truth and Goodness, Cultivating Beauty and Utility", it is rooted in central Yunnan, serving Yunnan and radiating Southeast Asia, having cultivated nearly 72,000 local construction talents and won titles such as "National Civilized Unit" and "National Advanced Unit of School Art Education".

学校构建了以教育学科为基础、基础学科为骨干、应用学科为重点的多学科协调发展体系，拥有省级高校一流学科（B类高原学科）1个，省级重点学科5个，省级立项培育建设硕士授权点学科3个。建有省重点实验室1个、省高校重点实验室8个、省级教学团队5个，以及聂耳和国歌研究院等15个研究机构。现有57个本科专业，其中国家级特色专业1个，省级一流专业3个，9个师范类专业实现省内一本批次招生，11个专业通过师范类专业国家二级认证。

The university has built a multi-disciplinary coordinated development system with education as the foundation, basic disciplines as the backbone, and applied disciplines as the focus. It has 1 provincial first-class discipline (Class B plateau discipline), 5 provincial key disciplines, and 3 provincial-level proposed master's degree authorization disciplines. There are 1 provincial key laboratory, 8 university-level key laboratories, 5 provincial teaching teams, and 15 research institutions including the Nie Er and National Anthem Research Institute. Currently offering 57 undergraduate programs, it has 1 national-level characteristic major, 3 provincial first-class majors, 9 normal majors enrolled in the first batch of provincial undergraduate programs, and 11 majors have passed the national second-level certification for normal majors.
