肇庆学院是由广东省人民政府主办、省教育厅主管的公办全日制本科高校。学校前身是1970年创办的肇庆地区师范学校，经历肇庆地区五·七师范学院、肇庆师范专科学校、西江大学等办学阶段。2000年，西江大学与肇庆教育学院合并组建本科层次肇庆学院。2021年，经国务院学位委员会批准，成为硕士学位授予单位。2024年，获批博士学位授予立项建设单位。

Zhaoqing University is a public full-time undergraduate university sponsored by the People's Government of Guangdong Province and administered by the Provincial Department of Education. Its predecessor was Zhaoqing Regional Normal School founded in 1970, which went through stages such as Zhaoqing Regional May 7th Normal College, Zhaoqing Teachers College, and Xijiang University. In 2000, Xijiang University and Zhaoqing Institute of Education merged to form Zhaoqing University at the undergraduate level. In 2021, it was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as a master's degree-granting unit. In 2024, it was approved as a doctoral degree-granting project construction unit.

五十多年来，学校始终秉承“厚德、明智、博学、力行”的校训，致力于服务粤港澳大湾区建设，培养高素质应用型人才。学校获全国毕业生就业典型经验高校、全国创新创业典型经验高校、全国文明单位、全国绿化模范单位、第四批中国工艺美术大师传承创新基地院校、首批全国健康学校建设单位、广东省文明单位、全省党建工作示范高校、广东省依法治校示范校、广东省安全文明校园、广东省大学生创新创业教育示范学校、广东省绿色学校、广东省节水型高校等称号。

Over the past fifty years, the university has always adhered to the school motto of "Houde (Virtue), Mingzhi (Wisdom), Boxue (Erudition), Lixing (Practice)", committed to serving the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and cultivating high-quality applied talents. It has been awarded titles such as National Model University for Graduate Employment, National Model University for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, National Civilized Unit, National Model Unit for Afforestation, the Fourth Batch of Inheritance and Innovation Base Colleges for Chinese Arts and Crafts Masters, the First Batch of National Healthy School Construction Units, Guangdong Provincial Civilized Unit, Guangdong Provincial Model University for Party Building Work, Guangdong Provincial Model University for Running Schools in Accordance with Law, Guangdong Provincial Safe and Civilized Campus, Guangdong Provincial Model School for College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education, Guangdong Provincial Green School, and Guangdong Provincial Water-Saving University.

学校坐落于肇庆星湖风景名胜区中，总占地面积1230亩，现有主校区和星湖校区两个校园。学校厚植地方历史文化底蕴，坚持“应用导向，能力为本”的人才培养定位和建设新时代特色鲜明的高水平应用型大学目标，形成了“团结、奋进、求实、创新”的肇庆学院人精神。面向全国26个省（区）招生，全日制在校生近2.6万人，拥有经济学、法学、教育学、文学、历史学、理学、工学、农学、管理学、艺术学等十大学科门类，60个本科专业，教育、电子信息、艺术三个专业硕士学位授权点。

Located in the Zhaoqing Star Lake Scenic Area, the university covers a total area of 1230 mu, with two campuses: the main campus and the Star Lake campus. Rooted in the local historical and cultural heritage, the university adheres to the talent cultivation orientation of "application-oriented and ability-based" and the goal of building a distinctive high-level applied university in the new era, forming the spirit of Zhaoqing University people of "unity, forge ahead, realism and innovation". It enrolls students from 26 provinces (regions) across the country, with nearly 26,000 full-time students. It has ten disciplines including economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, management, and art, 60 undergraduate majors, and three professional master's degree authorization points in education, electronic information, and art.
